MONEY VS "MONEY - ENERGY". AN ASTROLOGICAL OVERVIEW OF THE CRISIS

(By Thomas Gazis)

Has ever occurred to you - under the stress of the titanic financial crisis we are actually facing - the thought that at some point we might be left without money (for all kinds of reasons, out of a bank failure for example)? The thought that money might dry up in society, ending in the pockets and safes of those privileged ultra-rich (who are making now enormous profits out of this crisis)? It feels like a nightmare! How are we going to feed ourselves and our family, how are we going to survive if money disappears?

Well, first of all we should ask ourselves: is money that important to us or are there some other things far more important and valuable than money itself (I am not referring here to concepts like health)? And ultimately, what is "money"? Because definitely it is not what most of us think it is! Many of you will be surprised to find out that the true "money" is invisible!

Money is ruled in astrology by the signs of Taurus and Scorpio! These two signs represent (each in his own way) our  survival instict and our most basic and fundamental needs. No wonder then that money touches some very particular cords in us. It has to do with our sense of security and stability, with our sense of personal "power" and self-esteem and with certain deep and intense psychological processes within our souls. Taurus’ money is supposed to be the one we earn out of our job and we have in our pockets, bank accounts, safes. Scorpio’s money is - to put it simply - the "other peoples' money"! It comes to us through third sources (marriage, inheritances, loans, gambling, stock market etc.)

First of all we have to define what "money" actually is. Money should be something precious, because it can buy us any vital, useful and precious thing we want. Thus, it should have an intrinsic VALUE in it. In astrology the concept of VALUE is represented by the sign of Taurus. Here we are then! Money is a Taurus thing, it has a "Taurus nature" in it. Well, at least partially, because the nature of money is more intricate than that.

If your idea of money is the currency, the paper banknotes we usually carry in our pockets, then you should indeed worry that some day money might dry up and disappear! The corporations, the ultra-rich people might accumulate most of these banknotes - especially in the current crisis where the rich get ever richer - and consequently money will vanish from the wider society and from our pockets as well. Is this possible?

Let's start by taking a better look at the (ever fewer) paper banknotes in our wallets. Is this the real "money"? The answer might surprise you: no, it’s not! The money in our wallets although it does REPRESENT value, it has no actual VALUE on its own! It is made of paper after all...

Imagine a “Cast Away” movie scenario, where you are stranded in an island in the Pacific Ocean. You are carrying with you a briefcase with 1.000.000 dollars in it! What good will do to you 1.000.000 dollars on a desolate island, with no people and shops around you? Without a society  "enveloping" you all this money would be useless, with NO VALUE (or with a plain toilet's paper value at best). A single coconut on that island would worth much more than the 1.000.000 dollars in your briefcase!

So, the banknotes in our possession are not THE money, since under certain conditions the banknotes become plain paper. In fact, if you take a closer look at a dollar bill you will see on it the phrase:  “This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private”. Meaning that the USA government is considering the dollar bills not as actual “money” but as “debt trading notes”! Here we are then! We consider as “money” some paper things that in reality are a sort of Xeroxed “debt trading notes”! But NOT actual “money” though! Some other crucial components have to be added to the “formula” for our banknotes to become true MONEY. And one such fundamental component is that the bearer of the banknotes should live in a relatively serene SOCIETY!

You see, it is ultimately our society that bestows VALUE upon our banknotes - otherwise they would remain plain papers! Money and society are tightly interrelated - we cannot have the one without the other. But some other components are needed too. Did you notice above the phrase: "a relatively serene society"? The banknotes do not function as "money" in every kind of society but only in the relatively serene, peaceful ones! When the societies get agitated the banknotes are devalued. During the WW2 for example there was such a galloping inflation in Europe that high value banknotes were reduced to dimes and cents in just a few days! You may see below a Hungarian WW2 banknote of a 100 million billions!!!

[size=125]Inflation was so rampant across the WW2 Europe that someone who had accumulated in banknotes i.e. the equivalent of 1,000,000 of today's dollars, in just a few weeks - and due to the war inflation - his/her million would worth something like 10 of our today's dollars (from rich s/he would soon become poor, without even spending his/her money)!

The photo below shows a pile of completely useless "war banknotes" - due to the flagrant inflation that was rampaging the economy in that grim period. As soon as the war ended these banknotes were so useless that even if you could fill a whole sack with them, the street sweeper was sweeping them away as plain trash! You see all these banknotes together do not worth more than a few cents of ours! And we are talking here about legal banknotes that just a couple of months before might have had the worth of thousands of our dollars! And now they are trashed as plain paper!

[size=125]Thus, the component "a relatively serene and peaceful society" is fundamental for the banknotes to function as "money". And that's again a "taurean" quality, because the sign of Taurus is the one that constantly professes the need for tranquility and serenity in life. And we are not referring here to war periods only but to any major upheaval in our societies or in nature. If for example (God forbid) a series of super-volcanoes (like Yellowstone) explode out of the blue (meaning that the entire surface of the Earth will be covered with a thick layer of gray volcanic ash) then all the banknotes of the world will be immediately reduced to plain paper!

But let's cast away these nightmarish thoughts and turn back to our serene and placid Earth. There is another indispensable key element for our banknotes to function as proper money: their bearers should constantly interact with people, with the society in general, ever purchasing goods and services and creating thus debts, which they should then "cover" by using the “legal tender” banknotes they possess (handing them over to their various debtors).

This means that at the very core of the concept "I am buying something" lies the concept "I am indebted"! There can be no "buying", no purchasing, without a debt created the moment we are offered the goods or services that we are supposedly "buying". And since the issuer of the dollar bills is the "Federal Reserve" (which actually is a private company) anything we purchase with "Federal Reserve's" banknotes we don't really "buy" but we are rather mortgaging it to the "Federal Reseve"! That's why the things we "buy" are liable to confiscation after all! We don't really own them, the "Federal Reserve" does! And by using its notes we are ever indebted! And we know that debt is associated to the sign of Scorpio. Therefore, money has a strong "scorpionic" connotation too!

As we saw before, we need a society for our banknotes to function as money. On the other hand, there is no way to make money (unless you steal it, of course) if you do not interact with society in some way, if you do not become an active member of it, selling your services or goods to the people around you. If you stay home alone and do not interact with people you have no chance at all to make money! Because making money means interacting with people, partaking to the society!

“Money” is an inherent by-product of ANY society!

The point is that “money” (or rather the “money energy” as we shall call it from now on) is inherent to every single society in our planet - no matter how civilized or uncivilized - and even to every single individual partaking to a society! Let me give you an example to make this clear to you: take a primitive society, some aborigines i.e. living in a remote area of the Amazon forest. Although these aborigines possess no banknotes at all they still possess - as long as they are elementarily healthy and productive - abundant “money energy”!

Suppose that a westerner buys a terrain close to the village of these aborigines, in order to build a farm there. Being in need of manpower, the westerner will probably contact the aborigines and ask them to help him in the construction of his farm. But such a process usually takes months or even years to be completed. No aborigine would work that long for our westerner unless s/he had some sort of compensation (food, clothes, utensils, medicins etc.). So, although these people are primitive and live far away from every organized society, still a “no banknotes” transaction would take place between them and the westerner. They would exchange their "labor force" with goods. And ultimately this exchange will be effectuated thanks to the inherent “money energy” that the aborigines (and every group of people) possess!

Two other kinds of transactions that might have taken place here - thanks to the inherent “money energy” the aborigines possess - would be some “medical” assistance provided to the westerner by the tribe’s magician or any sexual favor offered to him/her. All these services would ultimately render food, medicins, clothes or utensils to the aborigines, goods that they did not actually “buy” with paper money but with their invisible “money energy”. That’s the true “money” after all! A sort of “congealed energy” - as Joseph Campbell stated. The paper money is just a poor effort to make tangible to our physical dimensions the omnipotent, invisible and elusive “money-energy” that imbues our societies.

So, you are probably getting now a better idea of what “money energy” is. If some primitive aborigines inherently possess so much “money energy” then think how much a member of our advanced societies possesses! You may picture the “money- energy” as a sort of a huge invisible “bubble” enveloping the society itself - as a sort of "societal smog"! And this “money energy” is par excellence the Scorpionic kind of “money”. Thus, even if someday the banknotes  disappear from our societies the “money energy” will be ever present!

Ultimately, the “money energy” is inherent to our societies in the same way sex is! When you walk on a boulevard you see around you “nice and decent” people strolling or shopping, people who on that boulevard set seems somehow inappropriate to picture engaging in a “nasty” thing like sex. But most of them do engage in sex - often like wild animals - and there is nothing wrong about it...

Sex is inherent to our societies alright but in a rather “implicit” way, not explicitly. Suppose you are walking on a sunny boulevard, you see a fascinating passer-by and you ask him/her: “would you like to have sex with me?” Most probably you will get an annoyed answer. You see sex is absolutely natural but it presupposes some sort of “interaction” first. Without such an interaction people are reluctant to have sex with a stranger. But if you are willing to engage in such an interaction the sky is the limit! Because there is a “sexual-bubble” enveloping our societies as well! Everybody is participant to it and everybody is entitled to his/her own "sex-share"! Thus, no matter how lonely you are, you might end your day having sex with a total stranger you met in a singles bar…

Another Scorpio’s domain is death. Death is something utterly unpleasant, devastating and hard to grasp. It seems illogical and incongruous to our everyday physical reality - you will not see it normally in the central boulevard or in the mall. And yet it happens all the time around us!

What I am trying to say here is that the “money energy” is as implicit and elusive as both sex and death are in our societies. You will never see it hanging over the people walking beside you. Nor you can catch your “money-energy share” with your own hands and bring it to our tangible dimensions (“cash” it that us) every time you need money. As was the case with sex, the “money-energy” is rather reluctant to be explicitly manifested in society, to be turned into paper money. As you cannot have sex any time you desire it - you have to properly “interact” first with somebody - so you cannot “cash” your “money energy share” whenever you want it to. The only way to convey your “money energy share” into paper money is to properly interact with your society (unless you are a thief, of course).

In any case, the “money energy” is there all the time, it “envelopes” us, we are “imbued” by it, each one of us has his/her fair “share” in this rich “communal deposit” - as we all have our own share in sex and death! Somehow, we all are legitimate “stock-holders” of this societal “money energy bubble”, even if we don’t have a single cent in our pockets, even if we have been unemployed for years.

Why do you think we can get a loan from a bank, get thousands of dollars out of nothing and make our wishes come true? And all this money with no sweat at all! Well, in reality this money did not come to us “out of nothing” but out of our own share in our society’s “money-energy bubble”. We are entitled to it! And some people are more aware of this fact!

I am talking here about those individuals who have a strong Scorpio emphasis in their charts. They are very conscious about this societal “money-energy bubble” and about their legitimate share in it! Thus you might often find them making money out of the stock-market, out of gambling, out of managing other peoples resources (or the less evolved of them by stealing). But in their mind is neither speculation nor stealing...They are simply claiming their fair share out of the communal “money-energy bubble” that they instictively know there is out there...

With the risk of becoming a little bit sacrilegious, I would compare “paper money” to babies. A baby is a tangible evidence that an “interaction” - an intercourse - took place between its mother and father (with some "cheating exceptions" of course). Similarly, the paper money we own is a tangible evidence that an “interaction”, an “exchange” took place between us and some other members of our society. So, in a sense making money is like making love (remember the saying: “money is an aphrodisiac”)? Not to mention the fact that in the past women always preferred to mate with well off men. Their instinct was telling them that a well off man means a more capable and mature individual (in order to make money you must be efficiently interacting with society).

As we saw before, each individual’s “money-energy share" does not materialize in paper money unless some sort of “interaction”, an exchange occurs first between the given individual and its society (meaning him/her approaching people and selling them his/her goods or offering them his/her services). The question we need to know is: how much is our “money-energy share"? How much “money energy” are we entitled to “cash” in our life time? The answer is “an indefinite amount”!

You see, the sign of Scorpio is a watery, "oceanic" one. It is the sign of "merging" and therefore is not particularly fond of  "limits" and "quantitative measures". Thus, regarding the "money - energy" we are entitled to, Scorpio has no clue. He is simply giving us a bag saying : "You can take with you as much money as you can fit in this bag!" And we begin putting money into this "scorpionic bag". And just when we are about to reach the point of over-filling it, to our astonishment we discover that this "bag" has an unusual elasticity and therefore we can put even more money in it! And we greedily push through more stacks of banknotes. At a certain point our bag gets totally deformed but we don't worry about that because the only condition we were given was to put in the bag as much money as we can fit in it! And thus we brim over the bag, squeezing in it more and more stacks of banknotes... Until at a certain point the bag is suddenly torn out and "our" money is scattered all over the floor...

Such a "tearing of the scorpionic bag" occurred in 2008 in America, with so-called "subprimes". You see, an elite of "insiders" in the financial institutions got wise on the "non-materiality" of the "scorpionic money" and on the paradoxical elasticity of the "scorpionic bag". So these people created some apparently complex banking "bubble - products", through which they reaped enormous profits, by literally selling hot air to their coustomers! Until these bubbles over-inflated and started bursting the one after the other - and on a massive scale, due to the inter-dependence of the world financial institutions...

In the beginning of this article we explained that money is represented by two zodiac signs: Scorpio AND TAURUS! So, all in all the "scorpionic bag" might be getting inflated for a very long time. Someday though it will fatally come across the diametrically opposite to Scorpio sign of Taurus, which is a very earthy and realistic one - and very strict with "limits" and "quantitative measures". Taurus will then say to the "scorpionic" bag: "Hold on, you've gone too far! You have been inflated so much that you are no longer consistent with the real economy"! The fabric you are made of is about to be torn!"

This is how things turned out in 2008, when the financial "bubbles" began to explode one after the other in America, triggering worldwide this huge financial crisis. But what's the astrological background of this crisis and what was the reason for it to occur in 2008? Well, the momentous entrance of the planet Pluto in Capricorn is considered the main "culprit". Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio and consequently is tightly related to the "world money energy". From 1983 on Pluto was transiting in the signs of Scorpio and Sagittarius, which are the two more blindfold signs of the zodiac regarding boundaries and limits. Therefore, they instigated a humongous inflation of the "scorpionic bag"! But in 2008 Pluto moved into the earthy and super-realistic sign of Capricorn, which is - especially when we come down to "limits" and "quantitative measures" - the strictest sign of them all! So, when Pluto entered in the sign of Capricorn the "scorpionic bags" all over the world began tearing out on a massive scale!

Since I am Greek, I would like to stress out the fact that this crisis has dramatically hit Greece! The Greek governments were - for decades - basing the Greek economy on overborrowing and not on tangible investments and productive activities (apparently they were encouraged to do so by the somehow "mafioso-plutonian" financial mega-institutions). The money that the Greeks were spending in the last decades was in essence more "scorpionic" than "taurean". And the "scorpionic" kind of money is sweet because it is easily given to us - without us having to sweat. Ultimately, though, it is as sweet as having sex with an attractive person you just met and with whom you took no protection at all! It poses deadly threats to us... Because as sweet as the "scorpionic" money is, it might as easily become a nightmarish, enslaving DEBT!
